Japan's Prime Minister's wife Akie Abe made a surprise appearance on a float at the 2014 Tokyo Pride.
Abe has been involved for some time in the fight against HIV and has been an outspoken supporter of gay rights, saying on her Facebook page that she wanted to see "a society where everyone can live a happy, enriched life without discrimination"
The colourful parade and celebrations in Tokyo's Yoyogi Park on the 27th April attracted over 15,000 people and was aimed at pushing for end to discrimination and prejudice.
