    Really Dirty

I have never been to Aqua before and when I read the reviews that it had been taken over by a new company it all sounded positive so I went to try it today. It was awful. The man on the reception desk was friendly and the entry fee was low. There was also a nice cafeteria/lounge area, but the positives end there. The entire sauna complex was incredibly dirty. When I came home I felt the need to take a 2 hour soak in the bath to "deep clean" my body. The hot tub had scum on it and there was a fish tank without fish and dirty glass and water that would have fininished off any self respecting fish in seconds. I stayed less than 1 hour. Possibly the worst sauna experience I have had.

    Worst Experience Ever

Well I visited the aqua a few days ago and could not believe what I was about to experience. No one under the age of 80 I would say and they couple that were slightly younger must have been about 50 stones in weight each. I went up to the cruise are that had cabins with glory holes. I went in to one thinking things may be a bit better upstairs. This slightly lit with the small tv screen playing vidoes. As I was watching the videos, this wrinkled thing that looked blue in colour about 2 inches in length appeared through the glory hole with some putrid fluid dripping from it, I never moved so fast in all of my life ! I went down to another cruisy area down stairs and instead of footsteps, all I could hear was shuffling and the sound of the rubber end of a walking stick hitting the floor as an obese geriatric figure walked towards me. I couldn't bear any more, I thought will go and have a coffee in the little café and have a seat in the little tv area. The only conversation I could hear was how much this old boy paid for 8 yoghurts at Asda for 10p on a yellow label and he proceeded to tell me if I get there at 9pm any evening I can buy sandwiches for 20p each So I am afraid starved of any sexual gratification or any intellectual conversation, I decided to exit this necrophilic dive. Enter AYOR guys……...

David, Believe it or not, even YOU will be old one day.

What a vicious, nasty ageist 'review' you've written. Just wait until you get old - hopefully it won't be long coming.

    Dirty

The place is very dirty. The floors are sticky and carpets need cleaning. A lot of drunk people on Friday & Saturday nights and caused trouble. Only one member of staff on and he had to do everything, clean, etc.I have stopped going now - just not worth the money.

    Don't waste your money guys

OK, I paid my forth and have to say FINAL visit to the Acqua a few weeks ago. I tried guys, I really did but, this place is abysmal, there is no other word for it. A place where tired, seedy, dilapidated, worn-out old trolls frequent before going on to haunt various old castles and abandoned mansions in the area. I have been going to saunas for years (ok, decades) and this place is the worst ever. It's also the first time I've ever written a bad sauna review, honestly. First of all, it's easy to find and a very short walk from Blackpool North Railway Station. Entrance is clearly marked at ground level. Go up a short flight of stairs, ring the buzzer, enter and pay your money. You may have to wait a few minutes to be buzzed in as there is only one member of staff and he has to do the café. ALL the cleaning and the reception desk. He doesn't do much cleaning and the times I've been there it just got dirtier as the night went on. Good locker room, plenty of space and good-sized lockers but, I had a weekend pass last time I was there, went out for a few hours, came back, was given another locker and later I forgot that I had a different number, went to the old locker and my "new" key opened it! There are 2 tiny, cramped, uncomfortable showers. The steam room is fine, dry sauna is fine, the jacuzzi is fine. The cabins are ancient, solid wood beds with no covering, just bare wood, they are VERY uncomfortable and not very clean. At the weekend they allow very drunk guys in, which is not right as they usually cause trouble. One drunk fell against me and I toppled over, he fell on top of me and almost broke my leg, it was really painful. I complained to the one member of staff (he was friendly enough as they all were) but he did nothing. I also saw a transvestite in full regalia with high heels, in the dry sauna. It is quite dark in there and again, he/she could have stood on someone's foot. Never again, I went four times over the course of 12 months and it is simply dreadful. Blackpool is just full of dead-end old guys, seedy, grubby old men. I don't know what Wet Wet Wet is like but it simply cannot be any worse than this place. The sauna in Northwich is fabulous, as is the Greenhouse at Darlaston - forget Acqua.

    2018 visit to acqua

I have frequently visited this venue over the last 3 years, first few visits I found the carpets dirty and smelly and the general hygiene of the building and other visitors to the venue very poor. It is a very old building but that's no excuse. My latest visits have shown that the hygiene had improved a little but now has gone back to worse than before. The stink of sweat and body odour everywhere turned my stomach and it was actually very cold in every room. A few people were complaining about how cold it was and we were just told that the heating was on full which was an untruth in our opinions. I would not recommend anyone goes there that has any sense of personal hygiene like most of the customers that go there.

    Mr

A fantastic gay venue. Much better than the bars. The owner Steve and Garth are very friendly and make all visitors feel welcome and do everything to help. Guys of all ages can be met here, all extremely willing. Good for young and shy guys to meet up with older guys. Very clean.
