The Embrace
139 Tremont Street, Boston, Massachusetts 02111, United States, Boston, USA
The Embrace, located on Boston Common, is a memorial that commemorates the love and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King.
This 20-foot-tall, 40-foot-wide sculpture, inspired by a photo of the Kings hugging after Dr. King won the Nobel Peace Prize, symbolizes their enduring commitment to equity and justice. The memorial, unveiled in January 2023, stands within the 1965 Freedom Plaza, which honors 69 local civil rights leaders.
The Embrace invites visitors to "stand in the heart of their hug," reflecting Boston's diverse history and promoting a vision of inclusivity and solidarity for the future.
