The View UpStairs

The View UpStairs is a musical by Max Vernon. It chronicles the adventures of Wes, a social media "influencer". On a whim, he buys an old building in New Orleans. By a strange and unexplained turn of events, he wakes up in the early 70s and finds himself in a doomed gay bar.

This gay bar was the scene of an arson attack that killed 32 people in 1973. Wes is a little lost in this pre-internet world. The often brutal homophobia of the 70s is not what he's accustomed to in his world of hashtags, PC buzzwords and branding opportunities.

The interplay between Wes and the ghosts of gay bars past makes for quite a compelling musical.
