Hotel Description
The Freehand Downtown Los Angeles hotel is located in the 1924 Commercial Exchange building (with the original neon signage still in place), former home to the publishing house responsible for Tarzan - you’ll find the novel in some rooms.
The rooms feature solid wood furniture and more Navajo styling, with wall hangings and local artwork.
The completely wood-panelled and pillared lobby area has sunset-hued walls. The rooftop area is dotted with flamingo-pink umbrellas and loungers – perfect for recreating a modern-day Slim Aarons pool scene.
It’s smack in the centre of Downtown LA’s gay action, gay bars such as the Bullet Bar are only a 20-minute drive away. Be sure to make a pit stop at the historic Grand Central Market.
