Good luck to swish hope it works. Base for gay /Bi men is being run down, most have voted with third feet and gone to 52. The half half is very confusing, they have done a lot to place to make it into a swinger venue and perhaps Newcastle needed one but feel gay / bi are just admitted as cash cows till swish is up and running.

I have been attending base sauna for years in the past previous owners have let it down However since the new owners took over the place has improved. New lighting ambience carpets flooring improved bar and menu new welcoming staff and upper floor entertainment areas. a vastly improved lower floor the spa jaccuzzi is hot, as is the swedish hot box. the atmosphere is chilled to allow people to relax and the staff are always keeping the sauna well maintained. unlike other saunas that I have frequented here the staff take time out to use the facilities this place the staff are far to busy making sure that the visitors are safe and comfortable. well done to the staff and management for making this sauna one of the best in my eyes

Been by myself as a mature gent seeking relaxation mainly on a Thursday and had enjoyable time each visit. Found the rooms clean and tidy, steam rooms excellent and lounge area relaxing for coffee and snacks. Will definitely be visiting again.

Great new facilities, cinema, maze, state of the art showers, dark room, 7 large screens, 14-man jacuzzi.. and spotless as well. Staff are really helpful and friendly and take their job seriously. Definitely visiting again. You guys should try it, as the place has certainly changed.. Amazing offers, too.

The place is very clean excellent facilities friendly staff but the nurse who is always in is too pushy and puts me off a return visit.

Walked in to lovely staff but that and the other customers was all that was lovely about it. Firstly MOULD! I mean come on! Some of the private rooms have MOULD growing up the walls. The downstairs showers don't work. The tiles on the floor of the steam room are so sharp my. Partner cut his foot just walking in. The jacuzzi is never hot or even warm. It's a cold and grimy mess. The downstairs facilitys such has tables arnt even steady. And are more of a hazard than they are appealing. Upstairs seems to be more looked after than the downstairs and that's scary. I don't think I can go again.

Great place

Travelled to Newcastle recently and tried sauna on the scene (52 I believe)....Not for me. Staff not friendly, jacuzzi very small and place was fairly dirty. I didn't stay and went to BASE as I've been to the one in Manchester. was welcomed by friendly staff and found the place tidy and clean. was busy with fun-loving guys and i had a great night....will definitely return. Thanks BASE for a great night. I recommend.

Ever since Base had a revamp I love it. Me and my friends from college usually come here after college to chill out and unwind after a stressful day and have some fun. The staff are so lovely and helpful. I don't think we will ever go back to 52 now and it's so much cleaner than 52 and I'm such a germ freak so glad to see the new staff are good cleaners.

Some people like the grime and unhygienic scene. I don't and much prefer the cleaner modern competitor Sauna 52. Avoid!
