Large underground lounge bar & club and a focal point of the Wellington gay scene. Ivy Bar hosts regular cabaret-themed events and serves delicious cocktails and tapas.
Note that the former Club Ivy moved from its old Dixon St location to become Ivy Bar on Lower Cuba St, in the basement of the former James Smith building.
The Ivy also hosts comedy acts on a regular basis from some of NZ's best comedians. Check their website for further details. Closed on Mondays and Sundays.

Tiny basement bar full of aggressive drag queens
Biggest disappointment in all of NZ. Tiny basement bar with garbage girl band music full of drag queens/transgender who grab you while the staff protect them because they are their regular customers. I've been all around the world and have never seen such a terrible gay bar.

Pop music galore
Fantastic dance floor playing the best music - pop classics, dance and more. Near to loads of restaurants and cafes. Guys here are hot and cute, although come later to avoid the older, slightly creepy men.
