The staff made me as a trans woman, out celebrating pride at a "PRIDE" event they hosted on Saturday, October, 26, 2024, feel really unsafe, especially now knowing I will need to go back to a Trump and Transphobic America! I attended their special pride event with dark room and paid $1000 admission fee. The venue was very urban brutalist with DJ and a separate techno room, a red smoking room and clean bathrooms. You need to be rolling to do techno and the DJ played just a little reggae, no pop, no afrobeats and some unique Chinese beats. Eventually it was just beats that never really dropped. However in alignment with everyone else said, the staff are completely rude. I am trans and gayer than any gay boy that I gayed so hard I transitioned to look just like a girl, and I was born in Taipei, and wanted to celebrate my FIRST Pride in Taipei. I noticed the bartender with the all black arm sleeve tattoo and cap made no eye contact and was really rude and dismissive when I asked for vodka cranberry saying I need to look at the menu. Their “cocktails” were mostly gin, rum or some tequila. One Lemon Lime Vodka Sprit. It was mid (mediocre) at best. This was the same case when I was saying bye to my Filipino friends just up the stairs off to the side and not blocking the entrance, the front repeat offender blonde guy with glasses yelled saying get out that I can’t stand there. I stared at him leering because it was uncalled for and disrespectful because right after that I then saw he started chatting with his friends laughing blocking the front entrance. This gave a very 重男輕女 misogynistic and transphobic跨性別者恐懼症 misogynistic vibe in the end for me just because I looked like a girl speaking English to my Filipino gay friends saying bye for not even 10 seconds. I expected more from Taiwan’s gay venue paying $1000 to be treated rudely. This isn’t an LGBTQ bar, just a gay one, and not trans friendly or inclusive. It would’ve gotten a one, save for the cool urban brutalist architecture. Please stop advertising your place as Queer or LGBTQ friendly and inclusive. It is harmful.
