A good place for an old buddy

Last time i visit there with a friend in 2007, now i did not know it was renovated and looks great. The only concern i have is the odor smell, but everything else its amazing. Customer service is a top notch. I was looking for a relax time and at the same time cruising aroung for some big belly old man for fun. I met one man but i forgot to ask for his contact, I really love this place.

    Paradise in a concrete jungle

I am a regular visitor, I enjoy it every space in this place in special the sauna, spa, pool and in special the green area… I always take a suntan and not body bother you…. But I never have fun….. I don’t know why? …. It’s because I am transgender? Or I look unfriendly…lol I am tall 1.78cm girly face, bubs B cup, and tan skin …. I always wear black cup….. Asian looking trans-girl… next time if you see me just come and say hi…. I don’t bite… lol Tomorrow Saturday I am planning to go at noon.

I'm fairly new to this scene. Have tried a couple of places, and Windgate stands out . I may be a bit dated, but I think it has everything it needs. I have really enjoyed the few times I've been so far. Even went dressed as a women once, got a few odd looks but all and all was welcomed. A very nice venue I intend to visit regularly. Well done Windgate

Been to the Wingate Club many times; the owner/Manager is a really nice helpful guy. The clientele even though may be older gents, but i love the "Daddy" type. I love the facilities..hot tub..wet sauna..video room, the "loft" is an xxxcellent place for xxxfun. Love the open plan showers they are great for putting myself up for "grabs"......all in all I love the place..even better it's out West...

So I've had some very hot sessions there, had hot group action too, needs more tops sometimes but I'm versatile so always have fun there I like to start off down stairs watching videos, never takes long to get someone's attention. Gets a wide range of guys also a few cd and Trans which I Don't mind. Yes a good place also nice grounds in the summer.

Decent cruise place in the suburbs

Visited Wingate a couple of times during summer. I enjoyed the mix of indoor spaces (lounge, maze, private rooms) as well as a large outdoor area (pool, lawn, bush track). I think the place could do with some modern furniture, but overall no complaints from me. I look forward to coming back again soon.

    World-Class Venue

This is a word-class venue. There's someone for everyone. Good variety of crowd. Most of the guests are friendly and helpful. Good, friendly staff. This is my second visit to Wingate Club and thoroughly enjoyed. I met few lovely people there. I live in Australia but every time when I travel to Auckland, this place is in my must list. If you haven’t tried yet please try you won’t be disappointed.

    Great place

There are mixed crowed and someone for everyone. Well maintained and well kept. I have been to many saunas around the world and Wingate club is my best. I live in Australia and often visit Auckland. When I am there I’ll take every opportunity to visit this lovely club. Entry fare is very cheap and service is great. Most of them are friendly and helpful. I met nice people there and especially met a lovely senior gentleman name Alan. Unfortunately I forgot to get his contact number. I visit Auckland again in April and visit this club is must.

    great place

Ok this place is bit tired and far too many old men - that's real old plus a few cross dressers too. It could be cleaner and a few pennies spent on the place plus friendlier more helpful staff but overall it's a great place especially the well kept gardens that catch plenty of sun too. Word needs to be spread to get a more mixed group here . Yes can bring your drinks etc good steam room and outdoor pool.

Thank you for your comment. This place has now been opened for just over 25 years. The "real old men" you refer to have been supporting us over that time so were in their 40s and 50s when they started coming here. We are very grateful for their continued support even during the 2008 recession and our 2013 fire. Our entry fees are the lowest in Auckland for similar venues and unfortunately we have a number of vanals that take up much of the funds we receive. We would love to be putting that money to upgrades, but instead have to put it to repairs. We scrub the place each morning and have volunteer cleaners who help to keep the place clean in the afternoon, but we find the place can be spotless at opening and half an hour later can be filthy. Without full-time hard working afternoon cleaners we cannot do a lot more. Any changes would mean we have to significantly increase our fees which we do not want to do. We would love to have more younger men here and look forward to hosting them. Regards Wingate Club

    Nice Place | Poor Service

Great facilities. Beautiful scenery. Very relaxing. Only complaints are regarding staff behavior. I couldn't find the steam room and the staff kept telling me where it was in a confusing way without showing me. Another customer ended up showing me where it was after overhearing the conversation - even though it wasn't his job as a customer. It literally would have taken the staff member 10 seconds to come out from behind the counter and show me. Not sure why the fan was running in the lounge. I requested it to be turned off which the staff did but later at night other workers kept turning it back on. They may be fully clothed, but don't they realize their customers are only wearing towels?! It was cold! That demonstrates a lack of empathy and poor customer service on their part. The Thai staff member also got angry when I didn't tell him that the disposable cups for customers ran out and he even hit me. It's not my job to inform him since I'm a customer and it was also highly inappropriate for him to hit me. In Thailand, such behavior may be tolerated, but in NZ, this is considered assault. I hit him back of course but as a customer, I shouldn't have to deal with such behavior from a staff member at all. Ridiculous.

Did not see your review until recently. it is dissapointing to hear about your experience with the Thai person. if this happens again then see the manager or email manager@wingateclub.co.nz. We agree the behaviour you describe is not acceptable. The building consent we have, requires the loungeroom fan to be on to circulate air throuout the room, so we are not allowed to turn it off. Hope you have a better experience next time, or that you are able to let us know straight away so we can deal with any issues. best Regards, Wingate Club

    Enlighting

Excellent venue. Could be alot cleaner and reception staff more inviting. Some very rude people not respecting others. Didn't need hear commentary from some clown while watching videos. Left after a hour.

    Great on hot days

This is one of the best saunas I've been to and fantastic on a hot day given the outdoor pool, garden and jacuzzi. I've been three times and it's always been spotless, with a decent number of cabins for play, all with locking doors, condoms, cleaning spray and paper towels. There's also douching hoses in the toilets, which I've never seen outside NZ but is very welcome if you haven't had time to prep beforehand. The jacuzzi is hot, not lukewarm like at other saunas, and the pool is clean and vast garden well tended. The garden has secluded bits for outdoor play but no one seems to mind if you have fun in the open on the lawn. I've only ever been during weekdays day time, so most clientele seem to be older and retirees, though a younger crowd starts to appear after work. The entry price is low for a sauna, so I'd highly recommended the place even if all you want to do is a bit of nude sunbathing and a splash in the pool. Bear in mind though that it's outside the city centre, so getting there might be an issue if you don't have a car.

    Creepy

I went there in early 2017, and was thoroughly nauseated and left after a few minutes. The guy at the entrance tried his best to convince me to get together with him before I'd even found the locker "room". The place was a mess. There was a stale odour, and the showers were grimy and dirty. I felt seriously uncomfortable there! Absolutely shocking place! If you want a decent sauna, pay the higher price and go to Beresford Square.

    Fully re-opened

The rebuilt facilities were opened on 23 May 2015. Nice and clean and now a good crowd, many in their 30s and up. Some younger and still quite a few older. Now has 2 jacuzzi s (one inside and one outside), large dry sauna, steam sauna and 12 private rooms. Large outdoor area with swimming pool makes this a great place in sunny weather. Much cheaper than the other one in the city.

For the more mature gay guy

One of the last saunas in the Auckland region. More of a club for the older gentleman. Average age must be 60. And it goes a lot higher. Really is like a club, they all seem to know each other. Fire was probably a good thing. Was getting very grubby. At least when it reopens it will all be new and clean. Cheap compared to the other sauna in Beresford St. Its also not a body beautiful sauna like Beresford St. Main downside is while there are showers some of the patrons appear to have never showered. Not much fun while going for it and having to hold your breath. But I suppose that's not the clubs fault. Just be aware as at April 2015 not all facilities are open yet. Regardless of what the blurb at the top of the page says.
