Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art
Itäinen Rantakatu 38, 20101 Turku, Finland, Turku, Finland
Named after renowned sculptor Wäinö Aaltonen, WAM is Turku's museum for modern art. Conveniently located downtown along the Aura River, it's home to Aaltonen's own works from early sketches to grand finished sculptures like the over 4-meter tall Maiden of Finland that welcomes visitors in the lobby. The museum also hosts his donated collection and other acquisitions spanning different eras of modern art in Finland and beyond.
Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art provides a laidback, creative setting to admire works by not only Aaltonen but also other significant Finnish artists, both older masters and up-and-coming talents. The changing exhibitions and bright, open spaces make it an uplifting spot to embrace art from the past and present.
