Gay Cruising in Brighton

    Gay Cruising in Brighton

Whether you’re new to the scene or a seasoned visitor, here’s your guide to gay cruising in Brighton.

Brighton, often referred to as the "gay capital of the UK," is home to one of Europe’s largest LGBTQ+ populations. Beyond the bars, clubs, and cafes that line the famous Kemp Town area, Brighton also has a thriving gay cruising scene. Whether you’re new to the scene or a seasoned visitor, here’s your guide to gay cruising in Brighton.

    Outdoor Cruising Spots in Brighton

    Duke’s Mound

This is the most famous cruising spot in Brighton. Duke’s Mound is located near the seafront, just east of Kemp Town. This area has long been known for its after-dark activities, with the bushes and secluded pathways providing cover for those looking to hookup. The bushes surrounding Duke’s Mound are notably higher than other bushes in the area. In recent years, some locals pressured the council to trim down the bushes but they refused. They decided to preserve Duke's Mound's integrity as a discrete cruising spot: confirmation, if it were needed, that Brighton is the gay capital.

It’s busiest during summer nights, although it sees action year-round. The spot is busiest after dark. Aside from London’s Hampstead Heath, this is probably the most notable gay cruising spot in the UK.

    Brighton’s nudist beach

Conveniently located opposite Duke’s Mound, Brighton’s nudist beach attracts a lot of gay people. As people sunbathe in the nude, eyes may start roaming and hookups are initiated. You can’t do much on a beach in broad daylight, but you can take your new friend to Duke’s Mound and have fun in a more concealed setting.

    Stanmer Park

A little further out from the city center, Stanmer Park offers a more rural setting for cruising. This park does not have a noted cruising area, but if you’re driving and you’ve picked up a new friend, you could easily find a secluded spot in Stanmer Park for a bit of fun.

    Brighton's Gay Cruise Bars

Despite having a big gay scene, Brighton’s dedicated gay cruise bars have closed in recent years. Currently, the monthly DILF event is the only dedicated gay cruising club night in town.

    Brighton’s Gay Saunas

Supposing Duke’s Mound is too cold for you, you can keep warm and cruise at the local sauna. Conveniently located in the center of Brighton, it’s a good spot to meet some scantily clad locals.
