Just how good is the Taipei gay clubbing scene

    Taipei, Asia's Gay Party Capital

Taipei's gay clubbing scene keeps on going from strength to strength and, arguably, is now the very best in Asia.

Tapei has quickly made a name for itself as the capital of gay nightlife in Asia and with an ever-growing number of gay clubs, bars and other venues, this title seems to be well earned.

The majority of Taipei's gay venues can be found in and around The Red House, a former market that has long been the centre point of the city's gay nightlife industry. The gay clubs in Taipei are huge, busy and action-packed, whilst the most popular gay bars tend to be smaller but offer a more diverse choice of venue and experience.

G.Star is one of the city's most popular gay dance clubs and is also one of it's largest, spanning two floors and boasting multiple large bars. G.Star tends to be popular with Taipei's younger gay crowd and international tourists, who stop by to enjoy the energetic and joyous atmosphere that G.Star is most known for. The club offers regular themed nights and guests can unleash their inner star in the private karaoke rooms.

Many of the best gay parties in Taipei are organised by events groups such as Werk, the biggest monthly gay event in the city. Werk usually takes place inside Triangle Club and is renowned for its world-class drag perfomers, male dancers and amazing drink deals. The night draws the biggest crowds from Taipei's gay scene.

For one of the gay bar experiences in Taipei, look no further than Cafe Dalida. Hosting regular and extremely popular drag shows, Cafe Dalida is a staple of the city's gay nightlife scene and is a popular spot amongst locals and tourists, with crowds flocking through it's doors before heading onto the bigger clubs. Cafe Dalida is located in The Red House and is in close proximity to many of the other local gay bars and clubs.

Regular weekly nights at JumP, Funky Club and G Star are nearly always packed, and the massive dance events organised by G5 attract thousands from across Asia and beyond. Excellent production quality and globally renowned DJ's ensure that parties to celebrate major events, such as New Year's Eve, are sellouts.

But it's not just about the parties. The Taipei 101 fireworks, great food, friendly people and vibrant gay scene make Taipei a fabulous gay destination.

Kris Trexler was just one of those who traveled thousands of miles (in his case, from Los Angeles) to be in Taipei for New Year's Eve.  His video of G5 and JumP showcases the very best of the gay Asian clubbing scene.

Kris told us "I've flown from California to Taiwan four years in a row because of the entire New Year experience in Taipei. It's costly but worth every penny, and I plan to continue my tradition in the coming years."

Special thanks to Kris for his permission to share on Travel Gay.
