Leipzig’s Christopher Street Day (CSD) is happening from 20 to 28 June 2025! This Pride event is celebrating its roots dating back to 1992, inspired by the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York. This year’s festivities kick off on 9 August with the traditional rainbow flag-raising at Neues Rathaus, followed by a reception and the prestigious CSD Leipzig Award for Queer Commitment.
The week's highlight is the grand demonstration starting with a rally on Augustusplatz. The demonstration will weave through the streets, culminating in a lively street festival back on Augustusplatz. Expect a vibrant stage program, celebrating love, diversity, and unity.
How to Get to Augustusplatz
Augustusplatz is the heart of Leipzig Pride, hosting the rally, demonstration and street party. Located on the eastern edge of Leipzig’s city centre, it’s just a short walk from the main railway station. For those who have difficulty walking, including wheelchair users, Augustusplatz is accessible via tram lines 4, 7, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, and 16. Most city centre stops are barrier-free.
Due to the demonstration, there may be restrictions on public transport and streets around the city centre. For up-to-date information on any diversions, check with Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB). If you can walk the last few metres, consider stops like Hauptbahnhof, Markt, Johannissplatz and Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz.
Driving directly to Augustusplatz on the day of the demonstration is not recommended. Instead, use parking facilities outside the city centre and take public transport or walk.
