The contemporary-styled Hotel SOHO offers a great base to explore the city and gay nightlife with its great location on Gran Via, only a 10-minute walk from Plaza Catalunya and La Rambla.  Guest rooms are compact (like most hotels in Barcelona) but feature comfortable beds, air conditioning, LCD TV and free WiFi. There is a fabulous rooftop swimming pool and sun terrace. SOHO offers a pretty good breakfast buffet that includes fresh fruit and juices, pastries, breads, eggs, sausages, etc. A great value-for-money option. Staff are helpful and friendly.

The very gay-friendly Hotel California is located in the heart of the historic Gothic Quarter. Guest rooms are relatively basic but comfortable and air-conditioned. Most major tourist attractions can be reached within a few minutes' walk. The area has a huge number of cafés and restaurants as well as some fabulous shops. The gay bars and clubs in Eixample are about a 15-minute walk away.

Located in Barcelona's gay district, Hotel Cram is just a short walk from Plata Bar, Sauna Casanova and gay shops in Eixample. Behind the 1892 façade are modern, air-conditioned guest rooms that feature the latest technology. It is a consistently popular hotel on Travel Gay. We like Cram's rooftop bar and pool. Don't miss the delicious appetisers, tapas and 'informal cuisine' served on the 7th floor Ànemos restaurant & bar that has great panoramic city view.

The recently renovated NH Gran Hotel Calderón enjoys a very convenient location in central Barcelona, next to Plaza de Catalunya and close to the Eixample gay village. Located in the heart of the gay district (steps away from Open Mind cruise club and Sauna Casanova), the Acevi Villaroel is close to historical sights in Barcelona as well as the Urgell metro station. We like the hotel's rooftop pool. All the air-conditioned, contemporary-styled rooms feature flat screen satellite TV and free WiFi. A consistently popular choice for gay travelers. Acevi Villarroel was the host hotel for the BEARcelona XII Festival.

Great value-for-money boutique hotel located on Avenida Diagonol on the boundary of the Eixample district. The Wilson offers a range of contemporary-styled rooms and suites, all of which are soundproof, air-conditioned and have LCD TV (with satellite channels), free WiFi, minibar and safe. The main gay nightlife area of Eixample is about a 15-minute walk from the hotel, and there are plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby. If you don't mind the walk, then the Wilson offers a more affordable room compared with other city centre options.

We love this luxury boutique hotel on Barcelona's famous La Rambla street - right next to the Gothic Quarter. Behind the original façade of what was the historic palace of El Regulador is an über-cool hotel with 31 uniquely styled rooms. The modern guest rooms & suites (which we can confirm have been soundproof) feature very comfortable beds, beautiful bathroom, flat screen TV, iPod dock, laptop-sized safe, WiFi. The hotel's restaurant Bistrot El Regulador is worth a special mention, as is the rooftop bar (that served us excellent cocktails), swimming pool and sun terrace.

Virtually every gay traveler who spends more than a couple of hundred euros per night on a hotel room will be intimately familiar with the W Concept. The high-rise W Barcelona, the first W to open in Europe, designed by renowned Ricrod Bofill, offers amazing views over the Mediterranean and Barcelona shoreline. The W has 473 guest rooms and suites with all its signature W features including the W bed, munchie box and Bliss spa products. Location-wise, the W is next to the San Sebastià and Barceloneta beaches, although some distance from the night-time gay scene and the Mar Bella gay beach. Having said that, if you can afford the W, then you can afford the taxi.

Built in 1898 and former home of the Philippines Tobacco Company. Today, H1898 is a modern luxury hotel that retains a sense of its colonial past. The beautifully styled rooms have LCD TV, mood lighting and free WiFi. The hotel features a stunning indoor pool and a gym. The rooftop bar and pool offer great views and equally great cocktails. Expect excellent service from the friendly staff. Hotel 1898 is located in the middle of La Rambla, surrounded by shops and restaurants, and just a short walk from Plaza Catalunya and the Eixample gay village.

Our favorite budget hotel Curious is located just moments away from La Rambla and within walking distance from the Eixample gay village. The hotel offers modern, stylishly decorated rooms with en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, satellite LCD TV's and free WiFi. Friendly service, good breakfast and very affordable.

One of our favorite budget hotels in Barcelona. Hotel Jazz is located close to Eixample gay district and the city centre. Plaza Catalunya is just around the corner, and La Rambla is a 2-minute walk away All modern rooms and suites feature excellent features including LCD satellite TV, laptop-sized safe, free WiFi, minibar. The rooftop swimming pool with sun terrace and bar offer excellent city views.

A futuristic-designed hotel from the Room Mate group, the Emma offers a fabulous visual experience, attention to detail and is yet surprisingly affordable. Each modern, comfortable guest room features a flat screen satellite TV, free WiFi, minibar and safe. Interior rooms don't have any windows. If you spend a bit more, then a suite offers more space and a private terrace. Breakfast is served until noon. Location-wise, Room Mate Emma is a 10-minute walk of the gay venues in Eixample and the city centre. A good value-for-money option.

A combination of history and style.  Hotel Neri is comprised of two buildings, one of which was a Medieval palace.  During renovations, archaeologists found a Roman site underneath the hotel and ceramics that are now part of Spanish national heritage. This top-rated hotel offers 22 beautiful guest rooms that perfectly blend the old with the new. There is free WiFi, LCD TV, air conditioning and an extensive bed linen and pillow menu. The Neri Restaurant, headed by Chef Benito Iranzo, delivers some of the best dishes in the city. (You should consider a reservation even if you're not staying at the hotel). Located less than 15 minutes' walk from Plaza Catalunya and the Eixample gay village.

Excellent-value boutique hotel in the 'Golden Triangle', minutes away from both the Eixample gay nightlife and the shops and restaurants in La Rambla. The nearby Universitat metro station has transport connections to the airport. Hotel Midmost offers 60 stylish guest rooms, each with flat screen TV, free WiFi and air conditioning. Some rooms have a private terrace. There is a nice rooftop terrace bar with sun loungers and a small pool.

Elegant boutique hotel, housed in a historic building. ALMA Hotel is a modern masterpiece, with a minimalistic theme, featuring a spa with  sauna, indoor pool and gym. The technology starts at the guest room door. No keys here; instead, your fingerprint is scanned. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable but modern. Great location for the gay scene, just a 15-minute walk to the gay bars and clubs in Eixample district.

The Pullman is perfect if you're looking for a 5-star hotel that's within comfortable walking distance of the Mar Bella gay beach (a 15-minute walk along the promenade). Large, modern guest rooms have excellent sea view. Superior and Deluxe rooms have a private terrace. All rooms have an LCD satellite TV, CD/DVD player and free WiFi. The hotel is about a 15-minute walk to La Rambla, but you might want to take the metro (or a taxi) to the Eixample gay district. The gay-popular Nova Icàri Beach is just a few minutes' walk away.

One of the newest Mandarin Oriental hotels, located in the heart of Barcelona's shopping district - close to sightseeing attractions and just 10 minutes' walk from the Eixample gay quarter. To say this hotel is highly stylised would be an understatement. Indeed, the interior spaces are quite spectacular. Even the walk from the entrance to reception is an experience. Guest rooms are strikingly modern with just subtle hints to the Mandarin's heritage. Not huge, but they offer all the luxurious comforts, and you can expect a flawless service from arrival to departure. The hotel has great dining options. The 9th floor rooftop bar (and dipping pool) is reserved for hotel guests. Finally, we should not forget to mention the spa! Over 1,000 m² of space including a 12-metre pool, gym and 8 treatment rooms.

A great-value alternative to traditional hotels. Uma Suites Luxury Midtown (formerly called "Splendom Suites") is just steps away from the gay bars and gay saunas in Eixample, along with popular sights in Barcelona. Designer hotel near Plaza Catalunya within walking distance of the Eixample gay village and just a few steps from gay Sauna Condal and Sauna BRUC. Las Ramblas and Passeig de Gracia are also nearby. Room Mate Pau offers chic, modern rooms, from a small 18 m² to a stunning 40 m² suite. Each room has a private terrace, jacuzzi, free WiFi, iPod dock, LCD TV and minibar. Breakfast served until noon. Urquinaona metro station is 150 metres away - two stops from Barceloneta and its beach.

Excellent value-for-money hostel in the centre of L'Eixample, next block along from Nova Bruc gay sauna and a 5-minute walk from Passeig de Gràcia and Catalunya train stations. The soundproof rooms at Hostal Barcelona Centro have free WiFi, wooden floors, air conditioning, flat screen TV and either private or shared bathrooms. There is a 24-hour reception as well as a concierge, vending machine and laundry facilities. Many cafés, bars & restaurants are nearby.  La Rambla and Passeig de Gràcia are just two metro stops away.

Boutique B&B located with walking distance of Passeig de Gràcia, La Pedrera and Las Ramblas. Khronos offers free WiFi and a large rooftop terrace where you can have breakfast and enjoy the views. The rooms have attractive, minimalist design, each with private bathroom, flat screen TV and air conditioning. Guests have access to a nearby gym. The hostel's friendly and helpful staff are happy to give recommendations on the city and pride themselves on being gay-friendly. There are only 9 rooms, so book early!

The service is professional and friendly. The hostel is just a short walk from Plaza Catalunya and La Rambla, so there are plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby. Urquinaona metro station provides easy access to other parts of the city.

The boutique Ohla hotel is located just 300 metres from Plaza Catalunya Square, a short walk to Passeig de Gràcia, La Rambla and Urquinaona metro, and within easy access to Eixample gay district.Ohla features a rooftop swimming pool with fantastic views of the city. Some rooms have views over the historic Gothic Quarter.The hotel is home to Michelin-starred restaurant Saüc. The in-house Gastrobar offers a great tapas menu, and the Ohla Boutique Bar serves excellent cocktails. There is also a gym with sauna facilities.Popular gay nightlife spots like Plata Bar, are only a 20-minute walk away.

Located next to the seafront, quite literally just a minute or two from Mar Bella gay beach. The Adults Only Occidental Atenea Mar is an excellent choice if you want to spend lazy days on the sand. This modern, stylish hotel features comfortable, air-conditioned rooms, some with great sea views. The hotel has a gym, sauna and hot tub and provides free WiFi access in public areas. There is a regular bus service from the bus stop just outside the hotel to central Barcelona, and the Poble Nou metro station is a 10-minute walk away.

Modern budget hotel, located just a few steps from Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas and less than 10 minutes to the Eixample gay nightlife - Sauna BRUC is almost next door. The Amra's stylish guest rooms are surprisingly spacious, air-conditioned and have private bathrooms and free WiFi. Some rooms include a balcony with city views. There is an onsite café, and the hostel's reception is open 24 hours. Luggage storage and bike rental available. Gay-friendly staff and excellent value for money.

Modern, stylish hotel in a great location at a very good price. H10 Casanova is housed in a beautifully refurbished 18th century building, just a short walk from Plaza de Catalunya. Many of Barcelona's best gay bars are just a couple of minutes' walk away, as is the Urgell metro station. Facilities include a rooftop bar, sun terrace, plunge pool. All comfortable, air-conditioned rooms feature LCD TV, minibar, safe, free WiFi. H10 has its own gym and sauna, but the nearby gay Sauna Casanova is probably more tempting.

Want to stay near the Mar Bella gay beach? The Lugaris Beach Hotel is going to be difficult to beat, as it is just a 2-minute walk away. The famous El Poblenou walking street is also just moments away, with its huge choice of really good cafés and restaurants (much better value than in the city centre). There is a bus stop nearby for getting into the city centre, or you can walk for 10 minutes to the metro. The hotel has just 20 large, modern air-conditioned apartments, each with kitchenette, washer & dryer, WiFi, Nespresso coffee maker. Some have great sea views.

This modern budget hotel has a great location, just 600 metres from the Mar Bella gay beach, a couple of steps from many cafés and restaurants on Rambla del Poblenou, and just a few minutes' walk from the Llacuna metro station. Excellent value. Simply furnished rooms feature a king-sized bed, en suite bathroom with a bath and shower and tea & coffee making facilities. WiFi is available in room for a fee. Travelodge also has a number of bicycles that are free for guests to use on a 'first come, first served' basis.

The nearby bus stop provides easy connections to the airport. Barcelona’s famous square, Plaza Catalunya, can be reached in 10 minutes.

The Olivia Plaza hotel enjoys a fabulous location overlooking the famous Plaza de Catalunya. The Eixample gay nightlife, shops and restaurants along La Rambla are just a short walk away. The rooms feature free WiFi and views of the Plaza. The restaurant serves daily breakfast cafe. Guests have free access to the gym & pool facilities at Holmes Place, located 500 metres away. The nearby metro makes it easy to get to/from the Mar Bella gay beach. The airport bus stop is very near the hotel.

The stylish Olivia Balmes Hotel is in excellent location, near the famous Passeig de Gracia and within walking distance of many of the best gay bars and clubs. Plaza Catalunya is a 15-minute walk away. Modern guest rooms are completely soundproof and very comfortable, each featuring free WiFi, flat screen satellite TV and laptop-sized safe. The great-value NH Barcelona is located on a quiet street in the heart of Barcelona, a short walk to Las Ramblas, the Gothic Quarter, Catalunya station - Sauna Condal is even closer, and you can reach the Eixample gay district in about 15 minutes. TOC is an excellent-value budget option in the heart of Barcelona, located a 10-minute walk from Plaza Catalunya, and close to many restaurants, bars and supermarkets. Both private and shared rooms are available. Some rooms have a flat screen TV and en suite bathroom. All rooms have air conditioning, free WiFi. The hostel has an onsite restaurant & bar, an outdoor pool with terrace, a shared common area with TV and pool table. Tourist information and ticketing service are offered.

Hotel Barcelona Universal has a convenient location in the Old Town area, next to the metro station and a 10-minute walk from La Rambla. The hotel features a rooftop pool with city views and a well-equipped gym. Guest rooms are spacious and modern, with free WiFi, air conditioning, seating area. Good breakfast buffet and excellent staff. If you want to check out the gay scene, Berlin Dark cruise club is about 10 minutes' walk from the hotel. The main gay bars in Eixample will take about 15  minutes to reach.

Located just north of the Eixample gay village, the trendy Generator Hostel is just a short walk from Passeig de Gracia avenue, two metro stations, many shops and restaurants. The New CHAPS gay cruise club and Sauna Barcelona are also nearby. Both shared private rooms are available, with air conditioning, free WiFi. Generator has its own bar & restaurant, communal lounge with PC's and 24-hour reception. Breakfast is available (extra charge).

A mid-range Barcelona hotel we'd recommend to any gay traveler. Hotel Market is strategically located, next to San Antonio Market, 15 minutes’ walk from Plaza Catalunya and within 15 minutes to all the gay bars in Eixample. Guest rooms are stylishly furnished, with private bathrooms, rain showers, large windows, free WiFi. Some rooms have their own balcony. Nice bar & restaurant onsite. An airport shuttle bus stop is just 2 minutes' walk away. Very good value for money.
