Sitges Monument Against Homophobia

    Sitges Monument Against Homophobia

The history behind the pink triangle on Sitges beach front.

Sitges beach has been a popular meeting place for gay men for decades. In 1996, the police started to patrol the beach in an attempt to crack down on this activity.

However the plan led to uprisings and protests. Ten years later, in 2006, the town erected a pink triangle on the seafront with the inscription ‘Sitges against homophobia. Never again.’
