Despite the sometimes taboo nature of homosexuality in South Korea, it’s a well-known fact that Itaewon, the queerest district of Seoul, is a safe haven for gay individuals. It’s also in this cosmopolitan hub that much of Seoul's gay nightlife is centered, particularly around the Homo Hill area.
Attracting a young and international crowd, the gay bars of Itaewon are extremely diverse and cater to a range of tastes. What's more, a fantastic mix of locals, travelers, and ex-pats creates one of Asia’s most interesting and welcoming gay scenes.
Homo-Hill is brimming with gay bars and clubs and one of the best places to start is Rabbithole Arcade Pub. This gay bar is a favorite among local and international drag artists, so it's also a great spot to meet new friends. If you're into Seoul's quieter, more luxurious side, cross the river to Gangnam and enjoy a classy night at the gay-owned JR Bar, with its wines and champagnes.
