    Gunnison Beach, located in Sandy Hook, New Jersey, is the largest clothing-optional beach on the East Coast and a popular spot for naturists. Easily accessible from Manhattan, the beach features golden sand and a mix of visitors, both straight and gay. Though the water can be chilly, it’s great for swimming once you adjust. The beach is equipped with lifeguards, facilities, and a snack shack. It’s advisable to arrive early on summer weekends as it can get busy. The beach attracts over 5,000 visitors each weekend during the peak season.

    The gay section of Gunnison Beach is located on the east shore of Sandy Hook in an area known as Area G. You'll find a mix of naturists and clothed visitors.

    How to get to Gunnison Beach

    Gunnison Beach is accessible via a 45-minute ferry ride from Manhattan, though the round-trip cost is around $46. Alternatively, you can drive, with parking available for $10 per car. Once at Sandy Hook, follow signs to Gunnison Beach. Note that the beach requires a bit of a walk from the parking area.
